Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Train

The route between Shanghai and Beijing is called Jinghu high speed railway. Now there are two types of high speed trains(known as bullet trains as well). Namely they are D type and G type. And D trains mainly run in the evening at the highest speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). D trains need longer time to reach Beijing, around 12 hours.

However, G trains runs in the day at the highest speed of 250 km/h (217 mph). The whole hourney connects with provinces such as Anhui,Jiangsu ,Hebei and Shangdong. At the same time, it links with the municipality like Tianjin. The distance between Beijing and Shanghai is about 4.5 hours -6 hours’ travel. It is 1,318km’s (819 miles) long.

Compared to the high speed railway, the normal trains cost less. However, it takes more time. Travelers with a limited time should better take the Jinghu high speed trains. If passengers choose to take the slow trains, it is better to book a sleeper. Because the train is overnight. Also it is best to book in advance. The tickets can be really tight during high season.

How to Get to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station

Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is next to Hongqiao Airport. Passengers can take line 2 or line 10 to reach the station. It costs about CNY 70 to go to the station from central Shanghai with 45 minutes duration. Whereas it needs longer time from Shanghai Pudong International Airport. It takes 1.5 hours. At the same time, passengers need to pay around CNY250.

How to Get to Beijing South Railway Station

Passengers at Beijing Capital Airport can take the airport shuttle bus line 10 to reach the station. Or passengers can take metro line 4 to get there. The station connects to the line 4 on the -1F of the station building. To take a taxi from city center like Tiananmen Square, it costs about CNY 30. Meanwhile, it needs about CNY 120 from the Capital Airport.
