Buddhist Temple in Kham Area
Located in the hillside of Garze county, Sichuan province, Garze Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist Temple. With a long history of 339 years, it is home to over 400 monks. Also, Garze Temple has a former name – Ganzi Gompa in Tibetan language. However, even if it’s a Tibetan temple, it’s also a perfect combination of Han and Tibetan architecture styles.
Basically, the whole palace has four layers: Main Assembly Hall on the first floor, Protect Law God Palace on the second floor, Qiangba Buddha Palace on the third floor and the fourth floor serves the buddhas invited from India. Historically, Garze Temple belongs to the Yellow Church, Hall 13 Temple is the first temple.
Garze Temple – Travel Tips
- Recommended duration for a visit is about 2 hours.
- The weather there changes a lot between day and night, so it is suggested to bring coats even in summer.
- It is not recommended to visit attractions above during “May 1st” and “October 1st” these two golden vacation weeks. Because at that time, the hotel reservation and transportation around will be in its climax, the price will be much higher than ordinary times.
