16 Sichuan Daocheng Yading
Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve sits in Garze county of western Sichuan province and the eastern edge of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Many people regard the region as “the Last Shangri-la” due to its stunning natural beauty. The area boasts three magnificent holy mountains: Mt Chenrezig, Mt. Jambeyang and Mt. Chanadorje, as well as Echushan, Niunaihai Lake, Wusehai Lake and Yingou Valley. They present an intact and well-preserved ecological system and attract travelers with especially their mysteriousness for decades.
The famous American adventurer Joseph F. Rock first introduced Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve to the world. In 1928, he published an article of Daocheng with photographs in the National Geographic. Many people wonder if this is the true wonderland. April to November is the best time to visit Daocheng Yading. It is 820km from Sichuan’s capital city Chengdu.
